A littel history ...

Alassio.

The island is named after the wild chickens that once roamed the fact it seems that, during a shipwreck, some chickens enclosed in the hold of the ship were saved on Gallinara and from there began to breed undisturbed.

The island, which was always a strategic retreat of vessels, from the Middle Ages was always exposed to frequent vicissitudes of war, and was often used for the purpose of coastal defense.

In 1586 the mayor of Albenga Galeazzo Of Negro had built, according to warning against the Saracens, the white circular tower that still stands on its top, transferred from ecclesiastical possessions to private ownership in 1866 during the Second World War the Gallinara was occupied by the Germans, is now being returned to private ownership.During the story changed several owners.

The island has always been protected by many environmental constraints and archaeological until 1989, when it was declared: "Regional Park protected."

The sea bed near the island is a wreck with interesting artifacts. Several relics are preserved in the Naval Museum of Albenga, including many amphorae dating back to Roman times.

This Roman ship used to transport wine sank in the first century AD still lies beneath the clear waters in the sea that separates the mainland from Gallinara, the site can not be visited.

The points of immersion are three:
